History
In 1933, newly arrived from Brazil, Clemente da Silva fulfilled a lifetime dream by creating a winemaking business of excellence that would lead him to overall success…
Looking for an area of investment with capital coming from business ventures in the former Portuguese colony, he considered buying a Port Wine company owned by his wife’s family.
This company was founded in 1862, under the name Corrêa Ribeiro e Filhos and has carried the seal of a long time supplier to the portuguese Royal House.
But as a result of reasons lost in time, the young businessman opted between 1933 and 1957 to build a company from scratch and according to his expectations, take advantage of his close collaboration with the above company to build its initial stocks and take the first steps in the business.
Since the beginning Mr. Clemente da Silva wanted to develop an export business. So, his first steps went towards markets like Brasil and North America, but soon followed by other markets like Europe and Asia.
The quality of C. da Silva Wines is internationally recognized and the investment in Premium Ports, with special emphasis on the Colheitas and Aged Whites, making rare jewels of the Port wine trade. Nowadays our Company is firmly established in the five Continents.
